(en) In times of increasing isolation, ubiquitous competitive pressure and the constant need to stand out, we want to explore new perspectives of collaboration and promote mutual support and solidarity. In winter 2019/20 we collaborated with Marlene Brüggemann and recorded our first full-length album "our open bodies will respond", mixed by Tom Grassegger and mastered by Alexandr Vatagin. The artwork was created by Leo Mayr. Musically we entered a new territory by shaking up the traditional rock instrumentation consisting of two guitars, bass, drums and vocals. We opened up space for new instruments, new voices and new sounds that led to new arrangements. We invited other musicians to contribute to the album. The entire creative process gave us a chance to explore the manifold facets of our music from a new angle. We see this album as a practical expression of our attitude towards the world we live in. "our open bodies will respond" will be released digitally and on 12" vinyl on 25 May 2022 on No Expectation Records. The release show will take place on 01 June 2022 at Kramladen/Vienna, additional concerts are planned.
(de) In Zeiten von zunehmender Vereinzelung, Profilierungssucht und Konkurrenzdruck wollen wir mit kollektiven Herangehensweisen Perspektiven der künstlerischen Kollaboration, gegenseitigen Unterstützung und Solidarität stark machen. Im Winter 2019/20 nahmen wir erneut mit Marlene Brüggemann und unser erstes Album „our open bodies will respond auf“, das von Tom Grassegger gemischt und von Alexandr Vatagin gemasterd wurde. Musikalisch betraten wir mit der Produktion Neuland, insofern wir versuchten die bisher sehr klassisch ausgelegte Rock-Instrumentierung, bestehend aus zwei Gitarren, Bass, Schlagzeug und Gesang, aufzuweichen, um neuen Instrumenten, neuen Stimmen, neuen Sounds und – nicht zuletzt dadurch beeinflusst – neuen Arrangements Raum zu geben. Also haben wir mit befreundeten Musiker*innen zusammengearbeitet. Der gesamte, iterative Schaffensprozess für das Album bildete den schwerpunktmäßigen Rahmen für die Auseinandersetzung mit den unterschiedlichen Facetten unserer Musik. Diese Herangehensweise sehen wir als praktischen Ausdruck unserer Haltung, die sich sowohl in den mehrsprachigen und -stimmigen Songtexten als auch im Artwork Leo Mayrs reflektiert. „our open bodies will respond“ wird am 25. Mai 2022 bei No Expectation Records digital und auf 12" Vinyl erscheinen. Die Release-Show findet am 1. Juni 2022 im Kramladen/Wien statt, weitere Konzerte sind geplant.

(en) We are kometa, a four-piece band from Vienna. The beginning: lo-fi, no drums, three of us. First steps: recording a demo tape and playing a few gigs. As our journey continues, guitars converse as they fade to the distance, driven by bass and drums. In our lyrics the interplay of poetic narration and sober description centres people, their living conditions, and what affects and concerns them. We released our self-titled EP by the band's own label No Expectation Records, followed by the EP "No Full Casco" in March 2018, recorded with Marlene Brüggemann. In September 2021 the EP "Eierschneider" was released. We played concerts in Austria and toured in France, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. Since the end of 2021 we are part of Generation Noir Booking’s roster of artists. Our first full-length album “our open bodies will respond" will be released digitally and on 12" vinyl on 25 May 2022 by No Expectation Records.
(de) Wir sind kometa, eine vierköpfige Band aus Wien. Am Anfang Lo-Fi, ohne Schlagzeug, zu dritt - erste Schritte: Demo-Tape und eine Handvoll Auftritte. Die Reise setzt sich fort, die Gitarrengespräche suchen das Weite, getrieben von Bass und Schlagzeug. Im Spannungsfeld lyrischer Erzählung und trockener Deskription geht es um Menschen, um ihre Lebensrealität(en) und das was sie betrifft. Ende 2016 erschien unsere erste self-titled EP auf dem bandeigenen Label No Expectation Records. Im März 2018 folgte die Mini-EP „No Full Casco“ auf Kassette, aufgenommen gemeinsam mit Marlene Brüggemann. Im September 2021 erschien die EP „Eierschneider“. Davor, dazwischen und danach spielten wir Konzerte in Österreich, Frankreich, Deutschland, Kroatien, Slowenien und der Tschechischen Republik. Seit Ende 2021 machen wir mit Generation Noir Booking gemeinsame Sache. „our open bodies will respond“ wird am 25. Mai 2022 bei No Expectation Records digital und auf 12" Vinyl erscheinen.
